Fray, Issue 1: Busted! is (almost) in the Building
Fray: The Quarterly of True Stories is a new, well, quarterly magazine journal of, yep, you guessed it…true stories. Produced by Mr. Derek Powazek, the premiere issue should be on my doorstep verrry soon and it looks beautiful.
Each issue of Fray will revolve around a theme. You can contribute to the next issue’s theme by heading over to Fray’s Flickr group and having your say. This issue? Busted! True Stories of Getting Caught in the Act.
On January 18th, at The Booksmith bookstore, in San Francisco, there was a reading from this first issue. I missed it (damn!) but there is a small snippet of a video sample from the evening’s festivities you can watch with envious glee if you so desire.
Fray is an evolutionary offshoot of one of Mr. Powazek’s original community based web ventures of the same name and is merely the latest of his pulp & glue publishing ventures. Mr. Powazek was co-creator of JPG: a magazine devoted to user submitted photography and the company that publishes it: 8020 publishing.
